The story

Thailand is louder and brighter than anywhere Scotty has been. Golden temples, waterfalls taller than the ship, a night market where the noodles fight back, and a thousand lanterns going up into the dark. Then, on the road to Chiang Mai, a tiger cub locked in a cage. Scotty has no idea how to open it. He is going to open it anyway. What comes out of the jungle to help him is covered in flowers and dressed in gold, and what she does afterwards, only Pricey sees. The 306 steps up to the Golden Buddha are real, and so is Mae Kampong, a mountain village with a waterfall running right through the middle of it.
